Who stays at The Cambie?
The Cambie brings travellers of all types (so long as they are 19+) from most everywhere; backpackers discovering the world, lecturers sharing their results, folk looking to add flavour to boring business conferences, scientists whose vocation calls them to search the stars for life. People with stories to gain and share.

We also cannot accommodate some guests with limited mobility, we have rather steep sets of stairs in our century-old buildings.
What forms of ID do I need to stay at The Cambie?
The Cambie requires valid (not expired) government-issued photo identification. This includes drivers’ licenses, passports and provincial or state identification.
Do you have internet access?
Enjoy our fast and secure free Wi-Fi, perfect for working remotely or streaming on your laptop and mobile devices.
Do you have parking?
There are many parking garages located in close proximity to both of our downtown locations. Each of them having different rates for days, evenings, and weekends. There is also street parking available free everyday 10 pm – 9 am.
Please pay attention to posted signs during your stay, as street cleaning and other activities may occur.
Where can I exchange my money?
There are several money changers throughout the downtown area which are within walking distance of our hostels.
Where do I keep my belongings?
Backpacks containing non-valuable items such as clothes and toiletries are usually left in the dormitory. Valuables such as cameras, passports, and money should always be kept in a safe place, either in the room lockers, or our luggage storage area. Theft is relatively uncommon in hostels and we hostellers would like to keep it that way. Keep valuables with you or place them in the hostel’s safe-keeping facilities. In an effort to keep your valuable safe we have cameras installed in all our hallways.
What time is check-out?
Check-out time is 11 am (11:00). Late check-outs will be charged a penalty fee.

Does my reservation come with a breakfast?
Each morning of your stay, including your day of check-out, you get a 20% discount voucher for food and drinks for up to $50 bill. Just show your keys at the Gastown Hostel desk to claim your discount voucher and enjoy one of the biggest and best breakfasts in Vancouver!

Do I need to make a reservation to stay at The Cambie?
We do not accept phone or email reservations. You can make a reservation online or in-person (Visa, Mastercard, or American Express required). Rooms that are not reserved are available on a first come, first served basis. For this reason it’s best to plan to arrive in the morning to make a booking (though check-in starts at 3 PM) This gives you the best opportunity to get a bed. We require 24 hours for cancellations. If you do not give us 24 hours notice you are charged for one night.
Do you have a curfew? or a lockout?
There is no curfew and no lockout at The Cambie International Hostels. Our Front Desk is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Can I use a sleeping bag?
No, we do not allow personal linens such as sleeping bags, sleep sheets and pillows. Please check these items at our Front Desk upon arrival.
Can I bring a visitor into the hostel?
No. Hostels are shared facilities. For security reasons, there are no visitors allowed upstairs. The bar is fair game for any of those 19+ however, so the social fun isn’t too far.
Can I bring a minor or a pet into the hostel?
No. We do not accept minors or pets in the hostel.
Can I receive mail at the hostel?
Yes. If you’re expecting a package or letter, let us know and we will receive it in our reception, and we will keep it until your arrival.
